Weekly Death Toll

Last week the number of Iraqi civilians who had died since, and because of, the U.S. invasion was at 1,194,935.

One week later, the toll is at 1,196,514.
That's 1,579 Iraqi civilians deaths last week.

Thinking about the quote below, it looks like not much has really changed in the last 5 years of occupying Iraq:

So far, the liberators have succeeded only in freeing the souls of the Iraqis from their bodies.
- George Monbiot, The Guardian, April 1, 2003

I find it telling that the phrase "moonbat," a term rightwingers use to describe liberals, was derived out of the rightwing's inability to pronounce "Monbiot." Or that's what I'm told.
