Got Milk?

Okay, I admit it: I was a vegetarian for years, and now I'm not. I buy organic milk, which I use rarely. I buy cheese (that is usually not organic). Sometimes I buy chicken and fish.

My mother keeps a few head of cattle on her farm, and when I get beef, that's where I get it. Her cows have big green pastures to graze in, eat real food, run and play until the butcher truck arrives. As far as animal on animal killing (which is a reality in the animal kingdom, I might add) is concerned: it's humane. But if you've got cows with tags in their ears because you have too many to tell them apart, you've got too many friggin' cows. And if you live someplace where you are unable to raise your own, then meat reality: your consumption is probably not a sustainable one. And "unsustainable" means that supplying consumer demand creates conditions like this:

The food industry has become udderly grotesque. I have to continually remind myself, as we all do: buy in educated good conscience, or don't freakin' buy it!

Do I like a good hamburger? YES! However, I'm resuming my strict avoidance of mysterious animal products. Ignorance may be bliss for the ignorant, but it's usually hell on earth for something or someone else.
